How Our DNA Affects Gene Function

Dr Araxi Urrutia is a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellow at the Department of biology and biochemistry of the University of Bath. Dr Urrutia was awarded a Fellowship to research how our DNA affects gene function. She used a part of her award to offset childcare needs for her son Dario.

Since receiving the For Women in Science Fellowship, she has won an Early Career Researcher Award from the Biochemical Society and was chosen as a Raising Talent by the Women's Forum for the Economy and Society. Dr Urrutia says: "Being awarded the Fellowship transformed my life, giving me the confidence and resources to return to my career in science."
