28th May 2016: Soapbox Science, the initiative championing women in science, returns this summer to present the wonder of science to the masses.

Soapbox Science was established in 2011 by two previous L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science Fellows, Dr Seirian Sumner and Dr Nathalie Pettorelli with the aim of ‘Bringing Science to the People’.

Taking inspiration from Hyde Park’s Speaker’s Corner, Soapbox Science brings cutting-edge scientific learning straight from the lab to London’s Southbank. The event showcases some of the UK’s leading female scientists, each of whom taking to their soapboxes to champion science to the general public. Soapbox Science offers everyone the opportunity to enjoy, learn from, heckle, question, probe, interact with and be inspired by some of our leading scientists.

L’Oréal-UNESCO For Women in Science programme was pleased to sponsor the London Soapbox Science event which took place on the 28th May 2016, on London’s South Bank.

This year Soapbox Science is being taken to five new cities with events taking place across the United Kingdom between May and September 2016 as well as Brisbane, Australia.
